Mirabelle

The Mirabelle plum is a wild French plum grown in many places, most notably in the Lorraine region of France, but they are also prevalent in Marc's native Luxembourg. It's very difficult to find in the US as it is technically "illegal" to grow commercially, but one of our fruit vendors experimented with a tree or two and made this available to us. The mirabelle has a succulent sweet flavor with little to no acidity. Marc's family used to produce a Mirabelle eau de vie (aka schnapps) from their ancient family orchard so he was very excited when we were able to obtain a bushel or two from our farmer.
